Glasses printing technology

On the glasses, we can see some words, some of them are the customer's LOGO, or the model number, or the advertising slogan. How are these words or images made on the glasses?

Now the popular frame materials are Acetate, Metal, Titanium and Injected model.

Different types of glasses have certain differences in the printing process. In this article, we look at the printing process of glasses.

The most common printing processes for glasses are screen printing, hot dtsmping printing, and laser, and can also be achieved through metal LOGO, crystal sheet, UV post sheet, 3D printing and other processes.

Screen printing machine

☀️Screen printing

It is one of the most common printing processes for spectacle frames.

The approximate process is: cutting the steel plate (through a certain process to corrode the graphic on the steel plate), fixing the steel plate on the pad printing machine, doing the glasses positioning mold, putting the modulated pad printing oil, and then putting the glasses into the machine, printing and drying.

✔️Advantages

📌Rich colors

📌Can print very small text

📌Because the rubber head is rubber, it can be printed on a slightly irregular

surface, such as a round or small wave surface

❌Disadvantages

📌The disadvantage of screen printing is that the adhesion is general, and after

drying with hardener, it can not be scraped off with nails at a certain strength.

Hot stamping film slitter machine

☀️Hot stamping

It is one of the most commonly used processes for plate glasses, injection glasses and

TR90 glasses. The approximate process is: engraving hot stamping die (just like a seal),

the machine put the desired color of hot stamping aluminum tissue paper (the most

common gold, silver, but also ironing color, red, etc., but less used), into the glasses,

start the machine through a certain pressure and temperature to glue the hot

stamping paper on the surface of the glasses (generally the inside of the spleen, the

lens is also more common).

✔️Advantages

📌The hot stamping has a metallic texture and appears high-grade

❌Disadvantages

📌The color is relatively simple, generally only gold, silver and gun color

📌Hot stamping can not be too small

📌Can only be printed on a flat or slightly curved surface

👉🏻Method

📌Concave die.

📌Punch.

The laser logo of Zeiss glasses

☀️Laser

It is one of the common processes of the eyeglass frame, and it is through the laser

beam of the laser machine to leave the designed graphics on the surface of the

eyeglass frame, so as to achieve the desired effect. Basically all types of glasses can be

laser fonts or patterns.

Common forms are as follows:

🌟Shallow laser

Refers to a shallow graphic trace on the surface of the frame radium, generally do

not need to do any follow-up treatment. For example, laser customer's trademark,

model name, glasses size and other information.

🌟Deep laser

Refers to a layer of radium on the surface of the frame with a certain depth of

graphic traces, generally at least 0.3mm or more, after radium is good, you can drop

the desired paint color inside, so as to achieve the desired effect.

🌟Metal frame laser

One is a light laser after electroplating, laser off the surface of a layer of color to

reveal the base color, such as gold shelf (the base color is silver), laser off the surface of

a layer of gold, silver is revealed

✔️Advantage

📌The font is clear

❌Disadvantage

📌Plating surface is damaged, time is easy to oxidize

 Versace's metal logo

☀️Metal LOGO

Refers to the use of line cutting, oil pressure, casting, corrosion and other ways to

make the LOGO, after welding, polishing, plating, etc., and then installed on the

spectacle frame. This way looks more high-end, but the cost is relatively high, and it is

not suitable for relatively small graphics. Installing a metal LOGO on the glasses frame

is the most common way of plate glasses.

Sheet metal

☀️Sheet metal

There are two main ways.

🌟Crystal chip

It is usually used in plate frames, injection frames, TR90 frames, or on the spleen

sleeve of metal glasses or titanium glasses. Images are made on thin metal sheets by

etching and other processes. The main process is: carve a slot on the frame, put in a

metal piece, then drop in crystal glue, dry and smooth with a water grinder, and then

enter the regular production process of glasses (such as rolling tong, grinding, etc.).

✔️Advantage

📌The operation is simple, the cost is relatively cheap,

❌Disadvantage

📌It can not be placed in the force place, otherwise it is easy to burst over a long time.

🌟UV post

It is usually used in plate frames, injection frames, and TR90 spectacle frames.

Images are made into thin metal sheets by etching and other processes, and the back

is evenly coated with glue. The main process is: paste on the surface of the glasses,

under normal circumstances, in order to be more firm, after the paste will be sprayed

on the surface of a thin layer of transparent paint, and then polished together with the

glasses frame, so that it looks like the rest of the glasses.

✔️Advantage

📌It looks more metallic, more firm

❌Disadvantage

📌UV post is easy to put crooked, once put crooked, it is not good to rework, and

the final cost is higher than crystal.

☀️Crystal glue word

Usually used on plastic shelves. The method is to carve or laser a certain depth of

patterns or fonts on the rubber shelf, and then apply crystal glue (usually with color),

dry and smooth with a water grinder. It is generally suitable for bold patterns or fonts.

☀️3D printing process

Refers to the use of 3D printer to print graphic information on the surface of the

glasses, this is a relatively new way.

✔️Advantage

📌The effect is more personalized

❌Disadvantage

📌The color is relatively monotonous, the adhesion is general, and the time is easy

to fall off.

The above is the common printing process for spectacle frames. What kind of printing

process is suitable for a pair of glasses, depends on the material of the glasses, which

process is suitable for use, and depends on the requirements, that is, what kind of

effect you want, because the surface effect of each process is not the same, the

advantages and disadvantages are not the same, which depends on your choice. Only

by choosing the most appropriate process can this pair of glasses appear more upscale

and the brand sense is stronger.

For some reasons, the last two processes are not illustrated, and this post is only for

learning and communication purposes. If you want to know more about glasses,
